**Q: HOW DO I CHARGE MY MINI?**

A: You can charge your MINI at home or on the move at one of many public charging stations. Two types of charging equipment options are available for charging your MINI - AC cable and the Wallbox charger, using the following types of charging technology:

**AC Charge.**
*   Home charging will provide 2.3KW with a charge time of 12 HRS (up to 80% charge).
*   Wallbox charging will provide 7.4KW with a charge time of 4 HRS (up to 80% charge).
*   Public charge stations will provide 11KW with a charge time of 2.5 HRS (up to 80% charge).
*   An AC charge cord is provided with your vehicle.

**DC Charge.**
*   Public charge stations will provide 50KW with a charge time of 36 MIN (up to 80% charge).
*   Charge stations can be found using your MINI Connected app, or the many charge stations visible on your navigation system

**Q: HOW MANY KMS CAN I GET FROM EACH CHARGE?**

A: Up to 233km of range is available on a single charge, based on Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP) results.

Factors that may affect the electric driving range:
*   **ROAD TOPOGRAPHY.** Driving uphill requires more energy however using regenerative braking whilst going downhill will recoup energy and increase driving range.
*   **DRIVING STYLE & SPEED.** Rapid acceleration and breaking and higher speed will use more energy and drain the battery. Maintaining regular speed will conserve range.
*   **EXTERNAL TEMPERATURE, AIR CONDITIONING /HEATING.** Colder temperatures, use of air conditioning and seat heating may impact the energy consumption.

Optimise drive range by:       
*   **PRE-CONDITIONING.** 
Optimise energy consumption by remotely using the MINI Connected app while charging.  Heat or cool the cabin while on charge to boost performance from your battery.
*   **ROUTE PLANING AND CHARGING.** 
Plan your journey using the navigation system and identify charging options along the route. The car will identify the best driving route to your destination, taking into account available range.
*   **MINI DRIVING MODES**. 
Utilizing the ‘Green Mode & Green+’ assists in a smoother acceleration and extends your driving range. Driving without air conditioning or heating can extend your driving range even further.
*   **SPEED AND DRIVING STYLE.** 
Regenerative braking, reducing speed into corners, junctions and roundabouts will assist in energy consumption and increase driving range.  
      
**Q: HOW MANY CHARGING STATIONS ARE THERE?**

A: There are more than 800 available charging stations available throughout Australia.

As the Mini’s popularity skyrocketed in the late 1960s, owners began to look for clever ways to incorporate their much-loved cars into their lives.

Camping in a Mini? Why not?

Aimed at “retired couples”, who “desire the carefree life”, the Wildgoose boasted economy with comfort, and was the ultimate example of MINI’s creative use of space ethos.

British coachbuilders Wildgoose Ltd., based in Surrey in the UK, produced approximately 60 MINI Wildgoose campervans and towable caravans between 1963 and 1968.

Converted from classic Mini Vans, they were sold to adventurous drivers determined to push the limits of efficient travel. The retrofitting specialists even offered a ‘convert your own’ service for Mini Van drivers who didn’t wish to part with their existing ride.

The stylish campers included a number of features that made them the ultimate in on-the-road comfort. The 1965 MINI Wildgoose Brent could sleep up to four adults and included a gas hob, kitchen sink, curtains, plenty of storage space, an optional electrically powered telescopic roof offering 5’11” of headroom and an 850cc four-cylinder engine with 34HP.

Of course, Mini Wildgoose was far less concerned with speed than it was about stopping at every opportunity for a scenic spot of tea.

###### STORY OF THE MINI MOKE.
When it comes to rare examples of classic MINI, the MINI Moke is up there with the most intriguing and unusual. Originally designed as a military vehicle for the British Army, the Moke really hit its stride as a practical, affordable and character-rich car that thrived in warmer climates. Having starred in a television series and often favoured for roaming tropical estates, the MINI Moke has a rich backstory worthy of its cult status.

Read on to learn more about this extraordinary classic MINI and to see where it is motoring on today with MINI fans around the world.

Alec Issigonis himself developed plans for the MINI Moke, right alongside the plans for the classic MINI in 1959. The intention was to use the MINI’s mechanics as a basis, creating a vehicle that would meet the military needs of the British Army. Even before the launch of the Austin Se7en and Morris MINI, prototypes of the vehicle that would become the MINI Moke called the ‘Buckboard’ already existed. They were built for the military as light vehicles that could withstand a parachute drop and be lifted by helicopter.

Low ground clearance due to the Buckboard’s 80-inch wheelbase sent the prototype back for adjustments and in 1962 the MINI Moke – named after a kind of packhorse - was born with a shortened 72.5-inch wheelbase. Unfortunately the ground clearance was something the military couldn’t reconcile with, and despite the Moke’s excellent traction and acceleration its military career was limited.

By 1963 the MINI Moke was ready to meet the public, this time as a civilian vehicle with the original 80” wheelbase and the standard 848cc MINI engine. Production would begin in 1964, though the motoring world was unsure of how this unusual vehicle would find its place – as hotel courtesy transport, a beach car, a golf cart, as factory transport? The final answer would come from the taxman, who classed the MINI Moke within the lower commercial vehicle rate, making it a hit with budget-conscious motorists. The Spruce Green Moke rolled onto the market as the cheapest four-wheeled car available – retailing at a mere £405.

The MINI Moke was not made for broad success throughout Britain, but that didn’t stop it from finding favour in select crowds. Though not suited for the average British commuter during the cooler and wetter months, it became a preferred partner for agricultural professionals and a badge of progressive taste amongst the Carnaby Street ‘in-crowd’ of 1960s Swinging London. By 1967 the Moke was a cult object garnering attention on a national level with trend-setters, thanks in part to its starring role in Patrick McGoohan’s classic thriller TV series The Prisoner. Throughout the later sixties a MINI Moke was a must-have in many cultured circles.

Following its hay day in Britain, production picked up in other parts of the world, particularly in more tropical climates. From 1968, Australia became the primary producer of MINI Mokes, and an Mk2 version was introduced with a 1098cc engine and new 13” wheels to increase ground clearance. The adjustments saw the model score some significant success in the Antipodean market – including the Australian Army, which bought over 500 of them in 1972.

The Australian climate saw the MINI Moke come into its own, and it thrived as a ‘rough and tumble’ vehicle for farmers, bush workers and intrepid off-road joy riders. Model variants were spawned, including ‘The Californian’ – a softer version of the Moke better suited to everyday drives with more comfortable seats and full weather gear as standard.

As the seventies became the eighties, production ceased in Australia but the MINI Moke story continued with the development of new models in Portugal – including the Moke Californian. They later rolled off other production lines to popular demand in France, Spain, Italy and even Japan. Today, there are MINI Mokes motoring everywhere from the Caribbean to southern Europe.

Over 55 years after it first took to the tarmac, the MINI Moke is still working. In Lisbon, Portugal, tour company Moke Buddy Tours bring a little fun and colour to tourism in the area.

Nisal Wijeratne’s father wanted a MINI Moke since he was a boy, and for the last year the whole family has been making memories all over the Sri Lankan countryside. Here’s to many more Moke memories to come!

######  INVERT ARCHITECTURE BRIEF REVEALED.

MINI Australia, in partnership with Green Magazine and City of Melbourne, brings MINI LIVING to Australia with a local architecture brief titled ‘MINI LIVING – INVERT’.

Leading and emerging architects from Australia and New Zealand have been invited to respond to the brief, which details the six by ten metre plot in Melbourne’s city centre. The once unused space is being repurposed and forms the spatial guidelines to construct a house suitable for a young family of four.

Firms are asked to supply a 1:20 scale model of their submission highlighting resource-conscious living and clever design. The models will form an on-site exhibition in October, 2017.

RMIT has also joined the INVERT project delivering the brief to Masters students in semester two. All entries from RMIT will be judged by a panel including City of Melbourne principal architect Garry Ormston, with the winning design displayed at the October exhibition.

MINI Australia general manager, Tony Sesto, is pleased to exhibit an adaptation of MINI’s global initiative in Melbourne, Australia.

“Creative use of space is at the heart of the MINI DNA. MINI LIVING allows us to apply this philosophy to a small footprint within the urban landscape,” said Sesto.

“We are excited to work with both Green Magazine and City of Melbourne to bring these values to our shores and challenge the best architectural minds from Australia and New Zealand to respond to the MINI LIVING – INVERT brief,” he said.

Tamsin O’Neill, editor of Green Magazine, said: "Green Magazine has always had an interest in small scale, residential projects and this opportunity will bring together some of our favourite architects working in this space. We hope that the exhibition will provide inspiration to those considering tackling issues of scale, urban sprawl and livability.”

From a MINI Plant to you, our car production journey is the perfect blend of automated genius and good old-fashioned craftsmanship. For your edification and time-killing enjoyment, here’s a rundown of a 21st century process steeped in traditional MINI awesomeness.

Anticipation: it’s both exhilarating and excruciating. It’s the adrenaline rush of knowing your MINI’s hit production weighed against your impatient desire to get behind the wheel. Trust us, we know – it’s a momentous time. But you don’t have to wait until delivery of your MINI to begin your journey together. All great partnerships are based on understanding and, already, your MINI has a story to tell.

Your MINI began its journey in one of our profound MINI Plants and with over a billion variations due to body type, colours and contrasting roofs, no two MINI vehicles are the same in a sequence. Divided into three manufacturing areas, the plants consist of Body in White, where your MINI’s exterior shape is formed; Paint, where it receives its individual colour; and Assembly, where all the components unite to produce your individual, iconic car.

At Body in White, ultra-precise robots piece together the 435-part puzzle that is each MINI body. The robots apply 4000 spot welds to each shell to ensure a rigid structure before a specialist auditor performs random checks to assess calibre and integrity. Your MINI is then fitted with its doors, boot and bonnet before heading off to a rigorous quality control evaluation. Our robots are perfect for many tasks, but not this one – every body shell must be scrutinised from top to bottom by human eyes and hands to ensure the highest quality finish.

Once perfect, your MINI shell advances to the Paint Shop. All up, it takes around 10 hours for each MINI body shell to pass through the entire paint process from applying a corrosion protection layer, through to its glossy clear-coat layer. With many body and contrast roof colours to choose from, bonnet stripes, exterior mirror caps and side scuttles, few other models come close to the level of customisation MINI has offered for more than 50 years.

One last oven bake, followed by a polish and wax, and your MINI is ready for assembly. This is the final stage in your MINI’s journey through the manufacturing Plant and is where the car will be fully finished and sent on its way to you. Queue fist pumps. Your engine, comprising more than 200 parts meticulously assembled by hand, is fitted in a two-pronged attack involving one robot and two workers. In a state-of-the-art factory charged with building one of the most recognised cars in the world, nothing beats the partnership of man and machine.

Your MINI is finally kitted out with its wheels, filled with fluids and driven off the end of the production line for the concluding round of checks and tests. When all systems are go, it’s transported from the MINI Plant to the Port for shipment to Australia – one of MINI’s 110 destination countries around the world. Your MINI will stop along the way, as it’s a long trip to ship in one go, before disembarking at Fremantle, Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane for a four-week bond process. Then it’s one last trek to your dealer before you and your MINI meet face to face for the first time. Here’s to a long and beautiful friendship!

###### SOMETHING FAST IS COMING TO AUSTRALIA IN 2020.

At the 24-hour race, the MINI and John Cooper Works engineers interrupted their testing programme for a short while to present the disguised prototype of the new MINI John Cooper Works GP to the public for the first time.

The new MINI John Cooper Works GP will be produced next year in a limited edition of 3,000 units. With its high engine power, model-specific suspension technology harmonised with John Cooper Works motor racing expertise, weight-optimised construction and precisely defined aerodynamic properties, it sets a new benchmark in the small car segment. The fact that it takes the extreme driving fun offered by a MINI to a whole new level has already become amply clear in the course of tuning runs to date. The predecessor model set the previous benchmark at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife with a lap time of 8:23 minutes. The prototype of the new MINI John Cooper Works GP went round the legendary “Green Hell” in less than eight minutes – and its testing programme is not yet over.

The prototype of the new MINI John Cooper Works GP didn’t push the limits during its demonstration run at the Nürburgring, but it hardly was able to hide its outstanding sporting potential even when driven in moderate style. A more than 220 kW/300 hp 4-cylinder engine with MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology under the bonnet makes for spirited sprint capacity and a captivating sound. Wide open air intakes, large light alloy wheels, the distinctive design of the front and rear aprons and the striking roof spoiler are its unmistakable features for inspiring performance characteristics – despite the disguise applied for testing purposes. 

The new MINI John Cooper Works GP will go on sale in 2020 in a limited edition of 3,000 units globally. And since the name of Name John Cooper Works is always mentioned in the same breath, the immediate effect is a sense of excitement at the imminent prospect of a very special model. And this is now justified: next year the new MINI John Cooper Works GP will be taking roads all over the world by storm – along with the hearts and minds of a particularly performance-oriented target group. The new edition of the top athlete in the model range is powered by a 4-cylinder engine with an output of more than 220 kW/300 hp and featuring MINI TwinPower Turbo Technology, making it by far the fastest and most powerful MINI ever to be approved for use on the road. Its market launch will call for fast decisions, too: the new MINI John Cooper Works GP is to be produced in a limited edition of just 3 000.

Anyone who gets the chance to take a seat in one of these exclusive, extremely athletic cars can look forward to pure driving fun and uncompromising race feeling. This was the promise offered at the Frankfurt Motor Show back in September 2017 when the MINI John Cooper Works GP Concept with its powerfully emotional look was presented for the first time. Large front and rear aprons, a striking roof spoiler and the extensive use of lightweight materials left no doubt as to the sporty ambitions of the study.

Serial production development for the new MINI John Cooper Works GP is now entering its crucial phase – namely on the race track, where whole- vehicle testing is to be carried out in the course of the next few months. Drawing on tradition-steeped John Cooper Works expertise, the suspension developed just for this model will be precisely adapted to the exceptionally high output of the new engine. Rigorously defined aerodynamic properties and an optimised weight go together with the relevant drive and suspension technology to create an optimum all-in package for thrilling performance characteristics.

Focused application of motor racing technology and expertise lays the foundation for new records in the fight against the clock. The benchmark here is the top athlete of the last MINI generation. The new MINI John Cooper Works GP is based on the principle of tapping into the sporting genes of the MINI to create a superior racing machine – in fact it embodies this notion in its most extreme form. Its predecessor was produced in a limited edition of 2 000 vehicles, as was the MINI Cooper S with John Cooper Works GP Kit which came out back in 2006. Both have since become much-coveted collector’s items. And the new model is already being eagerly anticipated by fans of the MINI and John Cooper Works brands.

MINI has unveiled its latest Countryman, its biggest and most versatile member of the range. To continue on the road less taken, the new car features aesthetic updates, mechanical upgrades and connectivity improvements while retaining its signature flair and hallmark British style in the premium compact SUV segment.  
  
**LED Lighting**

All lighting functions now feature LED technology as standard, and at the front a continuous LED daytime light band doubles up as turn indicators. At the rear, new light graphics trace the outline of a Union Jack motif, forming a distinct identification unique to MINI. Adaptive LED technology is available as an option.  
  
**MINI Countryman Colours**

MINI’s remarkable range of colours is expanded with the new Countryman, as White Silver and Sage Green metallic join the mix. Roof and side mirror caps can now be finished in either body colour or White and Black depending on model variant, and additionally a new Piano Black Exterior option darkens selected chrome exterior pieces to high-gloss black.

Depending on the model variant, the new MINI Countryman is fitted with alloy wheels up to 19 inches. The new MINI Countryman is available with a choice of Turbo engines. In addition, a high-voltage lithium-ion battery with a gross energy content of 9.6 kWh gives the new plug-in hybrid an enhanced maximum electric range of 55 to 61 kilometres. (Previous range – 40km)

The interior of the new MINI Countryman increases its appeal with a new refined surface around the circular control unit in the centre instrument panel. Intelligently reorganised buttons, touch-sensitive bookmark buttons and high-gloss Piano Black surfaces further underscore the car’s premium character.

A new digital instrument display is also available, measuring 5.0 inches to display essential information concisely in front of the driver.

MINI Connected features also see an intuitive expansion, from Navigation Plus options restructured on the familiar 8.8-inch infotainment screen, to enhanced Intelligent Emergency services.
The new MINI Countryman will arrive in Australia at the end of 2020 with pricing and specification detail to be announced closer to launch.

INTRODUCING THE MINI 60 YEARS EDITION.

###### TRADITIONAL SPORTING SPIRIT AND BRITISH FLAIR.

This is MINI, 60 years after the launch of the small British car that brought worldwide popularity to unique properties such as go-kart feeling and the creative use of space. To mark this round anniversary, the premium automobile manufacturer presents a design model that highlights both its British origins and the agile MINI character. With design and equipment features that are both high-quality and exclusive, the MINI 60 Years Edition expresses the brand's sporting spirit – something that is a constant presence even in everyday urban traffic. The special edition set to arrive in Australia and New Zealand in 2019 as a MINI 3-Door Hatch and MINI 5-Door Hatch.

Athletic talent is part and parcel of the MINI genes. Even before the launch of the classic Mini in the summer of 1959, it was clear that the design features of the new small car would benefit not just interior space but also the car's agile driving properties. Sports car designer John Cooper was an especially strong believer in the compact four-seater’s race track potential. In collaboration with Alec Issigonis, the creator of the classic Mini, he developed ideas for variants of the small car with a more powerful engine, thereby laying the foundations for an exceptional career on racing circuits and rally tracks, culminating in three outright victories at the Monte Carlo Rally in the 1960s.  

With a paint finish in the classic colour of British racing cars, the MINI 60 Years Edition in particular evokes the brand’s sporty career, which it started at a very early stage and has maintained up until the recent past. The exterior paint finish in British Racing Green offers a particularly clear expression of the premium small car’s character and origins. Bonnet stripes with a specific anniversary design and exclusive 17-inch light alloy wheels in the version 60 Years Spoke 2-tone round off the distinct look of the edition vehicles.

The design model's striking 60 Years logo appears not just on the left-hand bonnet stripe but also on the side scuttles of the turn indicators and on the door sill finishers at the driver and front passenger doors. Inside the car it can also be seen on the front headrests and the steering wheel. In addition the exclusive design model has model-specific interior trim finishers. The anniversary design can also be seen in the LED logo projection which is visible when the driver's door is opened.

Sunny Grace, The Winner Of AACTA Pitch: Charging Creativity Presented By Mini Showcases Her Short Film Concept, Charging.

Inspired by MINI’s ‘Charging Creativity’ manifesto, five emerging film makers participated in a live and virtual event which saw them pitch their short film concepts. Sunny’s concept, CHARGING will come to life thanks to MINI’s contribution of up to $15,000 towards her film’s production. Sunny also receive a $5,000 cash prize and a complimentary MINI Electric Hatch for the duration of her shoot.  
  
CHARGING, sees a young girl named Jasmine being home schooled by her father during COVID and he comes up with a creative way to help her complete a school assignment. Sunny was inspired to explore the idea of humans using creativity to be more innovative and to make us more sustainable.  
  
This marks the second year that MINI has supported the next generation of filmmakers, with MINI and AACTA collaborating in 2019 to deliver AACTA Pitch: Forever Unexpected presented by MINI. AACTA Pitch supports the next generation of Australian screen industry talent, encouraging new ideas and providing the invaluable opportunity for up-and-coming filmmakers to hone their skills by pitching their ideas to industry professionals.

CHARGING was shot in a few days and will be premiered at AACTA Screenfest on November 28.

This enables the John Cooper Works racing sensation to attain a completely new dimension of performance.

The new MINI John Cooper Works Clubman delivers acceleration of 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, with the new MINI John Cooper Works Countryman achieving the same in 5.1 seconds – 1.4 and 1.5 seconds faster than the respective previous models.
